Mobile Blogging
Marketing

Mobile blogging is an exciting phenomenon that is sweeping the blogosphere. One of the reasons why a lot of bloggers are attracted to the medium of blogging in the first place is that they enjoy being able to make frequent updates and posts that keep all of their visitors up to speed with current situations. Mobile blogs, or "moblogs," take this to the extreme by allowing users to post things literally as they happen.

This new wave of moblogs and mobloggers keep web surfers up to date with good and bad events of importance as they occur all over the world, helping to make international communication faster and more accurate.

Many people feel that the limitations of blogging have a lot to do with geography. After all, there is only so current that a blog can be when you need to run home and boot up in order to update it. However, mobile blogging marks the beginning of an thrilling new era when web-based communication can happen spontaneously from any location. Moblogging devices mean that there is almost nowhere on the planet that remains off-limits for bloggers.

Using Hand-Written Notes to Build Your Business
Marketing

Recently, I attended a networking event for my company.  The speaker that night spoke about good networking practices.  One of the practices she referred to was making sure to follow-up with everyone you meet at these events.  She aptly referred to it as "pinging".

The word "ping" takes its name from a submarine sonar search -- you send a short sound burst and listen for an echo or a "ping" coming back.  So, in networking terms, when you send out a ping, whether with an email, a phone call or a hand-written note, you're inviting that person to "come back" and communicate with you thus beginning a relationship with that person.  One that will hopefully benefit you both long term.

I always make it a practice to send out hand-written thank you notes to everyone I meet at these events.  I like hand-written notes, because they're a physical manifestation of your company (your brand) to that potential client, strategic partner or referral source.  A hand-written note sets the tone for your company.  Hand-written notes also differentiate you from most other businesses.  Ask yourself when the last time you received a hand-written note from someone you met at a business setting was?

Call Me Boss
Marketing
CallMeBoss.com is devoted to the entrepreneurial spirit in all of us. We all have dreams of someday being our own boss. We have our talents, dabble here and there, and decide to take the plunge. Our goal is to assist you on your journey to finding the right home business for you and to give kudos to those who have taken the plunge and are on their way to realizing their dreams.

My only goal for CallMeBoss.com is to give entrepreneurs a place to showcase their business. I built it because of a post I read on Ryze. A lady said she was having a "down" day. Her husband makes jewelry (very nice pieces) and they couldn't seem to get their business going. After a few emails between us, this website was born. I truly hope, in some small way, to help others who are struggling to get their business noticed. It is intended for entrepreneurs around the world. Although our website is small at this moment, I look forward to adding more pages about people from around the world who are trying to build a business from their dreams, talents, knowledge.

A New Year, A New You – Marketing Resolutions that Will Improve Your Image and Your Bottom Line

The keys to success with any resolution are: believing in it, commitment to the outcome and confidence that you will succeed. Heidi Richards

Depending on the type of business you are engaged in, you either have a lot of free time during the month of December or you are super busy fulfilling orders and taking care of business. Even if you find yourself with no time to plan, it is important you at least think about the coming year and start mentally making your marketing resolutions.

A resolution is “the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc.” –Dictionary.com

The problem with most resolutions is they are never kept – they may start out with a bang – with every intention to follow through and then somewhere along the way, they get dropped or set aside until such time as we are motivated again to take them up. At least that has been my experience. How about you? Have you ever made a resolution only to find that 2 weeks or two month into the New Year you forgot about it (until next year). Generally speaking when that happens it is because you either were not committed to it or it was simply too difficult to complete. Both of which are the keys to failure.

5 Internet Marketing Mindsets Required for Online Business Success
Marketing

Many independent service professionals nonchalantly enter the Internet marketing game by throwing together a half-baked website without any plan and mistakenly believe that visitors will find them. I should know -- I was one of those nonchalant business owners once upon a time..:) Initially, my online business grew from word-of-mouth referrals from other clients rather than from any true Internet marketing. My website simply served as an online brochure detailing my services and my rates for several years.

What changed my mind? Over time, I became tired of trading time for money. This exchange is the bane of existence for most independent service professionals. Upon gaining some time and experience in business, the independent service professional has a rude awakening that there are only so many hours in the day and consequently that limits the number of clients that can be served. The business owner can decide to expand and take on more staff or independent contractors, but that, too, can be problematic. When a business owner decides to pursue this strategy, s/he then becomes a manager of staff/associates, which can be even more time-consuming and sometimes problematic than keeping the business small with the owner as the sole employee.
